3 Books for Self Improvement

One of my aims for this year was to get back in to reading. I used to read all the time but have been really slack since leaving the world of full time education. I came across these while browsing museum shops in Amsterdam and I’m hooked!

It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be

This is quite short and is the perfect handbook for anyone in the creative industries. It gives you a new perspective and challenges the way you think and approach your work.

Once Upon A Time I Wanted To Be

This is, for the most part, a workbook. You fill in the sections as you go, answering questions, taking on challenges and in the process, figuring out who you are and what you want from life. It’s fun to fill in and I’ve found it really makes you think about whether you’re happy and what you need to change.

Knowing your strengths, weaknesses and beliefs mean you are able to put effort into the right areas of your life and ensure that your career works with your values.

Do Big Small Things

If you find you always wonder but never do then this is the book for you! It’s great for pushing you out into the world and encouraged me to stop doubting and get booking my next trip. It’s full of inspiring true stories, advice, fun little tasks and challenges that enable personal growth.

This is one of my favourite tasks and I’m going to ask people I meet on my various little travels to add their words of wisdom. I aim to fill it with different languages and cultures and see it all come together as a memory of my trips.

I wish I’d got this book ages ago (!) but it will make me keep exploring and discovering and I will log all my adventures from now on.
